Mom-to-be at 28 weeks

Now is it a real baby bump?
I'm sporting my new & improved belly as well as my new hair in this picture.  I went back blonde.  I think I must be used to the dark by now because it feels REALLY blonde to me- especially on top.  Ya'll will tell me if I look like a freak, right?!?!

Dude at 27 weeks

head on the right, legs on the left
Dude is one funny little guy already.  We CANNOT get a good ultrasound image of him.  His darned fists are always in the way.  I keep waiting to get a good profile of his face, but he just will not allow it.  Stubborn little fella (I wonder where he gets that from?).  I'm convinced we should name him Rocky- if he comes out punching we may just have to.  Part of me thinks that I'm getting punched, not kicked, from the inside.  Who knows if it's a little foot or fist?  All I know is that he is VERY active.  He's always moving around.  It's cool to watch him move across my stomach sometimes.  A little bit creepy, but really fascinating at the same time.   Our suspisions were confirmed by this ultrasound.  His head is down low on my left and his back arches up and over so his feet are down low on my right side.  He likes to headbutt me sometimes- that's how we knew where his head was.  And I'm always getting jabbed on the other side- sometimes simultaneously!

still a boy
Apparently he is shy about hiding his face, but he is not shy about his boy parts.  He is always flashing us.  Whenever anyone asks how he is or how an appointment went I always say, "he's still a boy!"  There really isn't much else to report and he keeps reminding us that he is a boy.  I just had a friend have a baby and it was supposed to be a girl.  They had a name and all kinds of girl stuff already picked out.  They were DEFINITELY surprised when "she" actually came out a "he!"  I don't think we'll have that issue with Dude.  I just hope he's hiding his face because he's super cute rather than the opposite :-)

We love showing my mom the ultrasound pictures.  We think they are fun but are always a little disappointed because we can't get a good profile or 3D image of him.  But we always know that mom will ooooh and ahhhhh over how cute he is.  She has done that since he was just a little blog.  It's very reassuring.  Perhaps grandmas know something more than us?

Josh's Creativity

Truck driver & his WIDE LOAD
So there aren't very many holidays that Josh really gets into, but Halloween is one of them.  He LOVES coming up with crazy/weird costume ideas.  Most of them I have to veto because they're a little too crazy.  But this year's winning idea was pretty funny.  I think it was especially funny because my baby bump is still pretty small.  We had a great time at a friend's annual Halloween Costume Party- people are so creative!

The last of Donat's donut.
Tradition at this annual Halloween party is to have a "donut on a string" competition.  Last year I did pretty good for the girls, but this year I just couldn't stomach the idea of eating a donut so I sat out.  Josh was all in...

sweet glow of victory!
and HE WON!!!

Go Laura!!  (Pretty good for 8 1/2 mo. prego)
I attempted bobbing for apples.  I was up against last years reigning champ, Laura.  I knew I didn't stand a chance (I'm not even sure I've EVER bobbed for apples), but I wanted to do it before anyone else put their faces and spit in the water.  Laura kicked my trash.  Before I even realized what I was doing she had won!
80s prom date, devil woman, 20s flapper, elin wood, & the wide load
My friends are so much fun!  My visiting teaching companion was Elin Wood and her husband was Tiger.  She had her silk jammies on with a diamond necklace and she carried around a club.  He had his face all bashed in and bruised/bleeding.  SO FUNNY!!
