My Little Water Man

So tired and hungry.  He started eating my arm after this.

Disclaimer:  I am a WHITE SOX fan, but my head got too big for all my SOX hats- this one is adjustable.

Don't you just want to smother him with kisses?!?!  He is just too cute!  I am so lucky.  We have been going to the pool a few times a week for about 3 weeks now.  I decided that he needs to get used to being in the water and being at the pool.  It is too hot here to not spend time at the pool during the summer.  We stay anywhere from 5 min - 1 hour depending on his mood and whether or not we go with friends :-)  He actually does really well.  He just hangs over my arm like usual and lets his hat block his face from the sun.  He just chills.  He starts to get upset if I put him in past his waist.  He's most comfortable with his feet and calves in the water so that's where we usually stay.  I'm excited for him to get a little older so that he can actually enjoy the water a bit more.  I think we might invest in one of those floater things for him so I don't have to hold him the entire time.

***Actually, there isn't much to read about.  But there are some cute pictures of our little man on Easter Sunday- enjoy!!

We had a lovely day at church.  Elijah was such a GOOD boy- that's 2 weeks in a row!  He was even awake for most of Sacrament Meeting.  He was smiling and laughing with me- he started cracking up during the closing hymn "I Need Thee Every Hour."  I got the feeling he was thinking, "Yes, I do need Thee... you stuck me with these crazy people!!"

After church we put Eli down for a nap and Josh and I watched the "Avatar: Last Airbender" movie.  Such a cool movie.  I can't wait until Book 2 comes out!  After the movie I layed down for about an hour while Eli finished his nap.  Then it was time to get ready for dinner. 

Our friend Ardy invited us over for dinner.  We brought punch and heavenly hash (a jello dessert) to contribute.  She had her nephew and his family there, our friend Kaylynne and her family, us, and "Grandpa" & Brianna (her daughter's friend from the ward).  It was a wonderful evening full of fun and laughter. 

Elijah was being so cute and fun when we got home that we thought we would try to skype my mom and dad.  Unfortunately he decided that he had had enough!  He got really angry and screamed at grandma and grandpa (we are still working on our manners).  His screaming qualified him for a nice warm bath, pre-bedtime snack, and bed for the night.  He was pretty happy once we put him in the bath!!

And that was our Easter!

My mom came to visit right after Eli was born.  She got into town just a few hours before we were released from the hospital- perfect timing!  It was such a blessing to have her in town for the first week 1/2 of Eli's life.  Josh and I don't know how we would have survived without her.  She did EVERYTHING for us:  grocery shopped, cooked (even bought us a new pan because she didn't like ours), cleaned, sewed, got up with the baby when he fussed until he couldn't wait to eat any longer, watched and held him while I slept, ran errands, shared a small sliver of her knowledge.  MY MOM IS THE BEST!  We could never thank her enough for her generosity.  It was so wonderful to have someone so knowledgeable right at my side to help me through everything.  There was a lot to learn and she has been there for me through it all.  And baby Eli LOVES his grandma.  THANK YOU GRANDMA!!!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Yesterday was a big day for Eli.  We went on our first roadtrip with him to Round Rock, Texas (north of Austin).  Our good friend Lance plays for the Kansas City Royals triple A affiliate- The Omaha Stormchasers.  They were in town to play the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers triple A affiliate).  So we headed up there to watch Uncle Lance play some ball.  Eli has been to a few softball games (Lance's fiance Shelly's) but this was his first official baseball game.  Totally appropriate that it be a professional game!  Eli hates his carseat/the car so he screamed most of the way there.  We even had to stop at a park on the way to calm him down and let him puke a bit, lol.  We got to see Lance before he headed on the field to stretch and such.  Of course he had to get his Eli fix!!

Elijah did really well once we got there- he even managed to take 2 decent naps during the game.

We were able to meet up with our friends Matt & Kirsten for the game.  They moved to Austin about 6 months ago so it was great to see them!  We know Kirsten from our Hudson Valley Renegades days in New York.  She was also a season ticket holder at The Missions here in San Antonio before they moved up to Austin.  They were excited to meet Eli and even brought him an adorable stuffed animal dog.  We named him Matsen (their names combined).  He's a cutie, just like Eli!!  After the game we said "hi" & "bye" to Lance and then headed out to DQ with Matt & Kirsten.  Elijah impressed these cute old people- they were totally enthralled by him.  It's so fun to show him off :-)  After stopping at a gas station to re-fuel Eli and the car we headed him.  My sweet boy slept the entire way.  Such an angel!! 

We hope he had as much fun at the game as we did.  He will have a sad life if he doesn't end up a fan of baseball :-)

I'm a little late posting this (as usual) because I have been waiting to get pictures.

Eli was blessed on Sunday March 27, 2011.  He was 2 months and 1 day old.  We had A LOT of family in town for the occasion.  Josh's parents came from Northern Idaho and my parents from Chicago.  I had my mom's parents, 2 sisters, and 5 of my cousins come from Idaho Falls AND my cousin and his wife and sweet new baby came from Houston.  It was SUCH a fun week/weekend.  Thank you to everyone for making the long trip here to support our sweet little boy.  It was so wonderful to have my grandpa and cousin be part of the circle during the blessing.  Of course I missed my brothers and their families being with us, but I understand- we live too far away from each other! 

Here are some pictures my cousin {thanks, Kim} took on his blessing day.  I had to feed him right after sacrament meeting so we never got pictures at the church.  More pictures of his little white suit to come later. 

I should also give a shout out to our catholic friends Shirley and Shelly for braving the crazy mormons and attending sacrament meeting for the blessing.  We are lucky to have such wonderful friends in our lives.  We are so glad we could share this experience with them.  I hope they don't think we're TOO crazy :-)

Josh insisted that he wear a 3 piece white suit and tie.  Not a bow-tie, a tie-tie.  After searching FOREVER for the white suit, I finally found one at the very last store I looked.  It was the last one they had.  I thought since it's Easter time it would have been a lot easier to find a white suit, but boy was I wrong.  The suit didn't come with a tie so I had to make one.  We bought a normal size tie from the distribution center and I cut it down and made the tie out of the skinny end.  Josh tied the knot and then I cut the sides off that go around the neck and attached it to some white ribbon.  This fit under the little collar a lot better.  It velcros in the back.  I found the tutorial on-line but then altered it a bit to save time and to fit within my crafting abilities :-)  Isn't my boy handsome?

Josh gave the most beautiful blessing.  We are in the process of typing it out to put in Elijah's baby book.  I hope someday he is able to cherish it.  It was a very special moment for me, one I will never forget!  Thank you to Josh for honoring your Priesthood and being able to bless our sweet little boy.  I love you.
